Artificial Intelligence (AI)

As promised, I will try to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the AI that I use to create these coloring books. The technology is moving rapidly, and I have been known to go down a rabbit hole looking at new tools. In the upcoming weeks, I will not only give you a look at what tools I use but also give you some examples of how you could use these tools as well.

I decided to start with Coloring Books, and after doing some market research on what niche, I decided to start with Pets and more specifically Dogs in the first few books. But I am not an artist, so how was I going to generate these coloring book pages?

I use Midjourney to assist with the generation of these pages. I do not recommend that you try this tool unless you are a little tech savvy, as just to run it you need to be familiar with a Discord server and other technologies. Midjourney is a text-to-image generator, and creating a text prompt is the most important thing to learn. You have probably all heard the phrase "garbage in - garbage out". Well, in this case it is "not a clear prompt in - garbage image out"!

I will show you the steps I went through when I was trying to create a character to represent my youngest granddaughter, Lauren:

Prompt 1: 3D, beautiful girl child character facing camera, full body, no background, full HD color

Output 1: (I have MidJourney set at 4 images per iteration)

Weird eyes - I can fix those with another tool, but I decided to go with a different look.

Prompt 2: 3D, Pixar (new from previous prompt), beautiful girl child character facing camera, full body, white background, full HD color

Better, but Lauren in real life is blond!

Prompt 3: 3D, Pixar, beautiful blond(new from previous prompt) girl child character facing camera, full body, white background, full HD color

Better, but Lauren is almost always happy!

Prompt 4: 3D, Pixar, beautiful happy(new from previous prompt) blond girl child character facing camera, full body, white background, full HD color

There she is! Bottom right picture. Let's enlarge that for a better view - called Upscale in Midjourney.

And there she is! So I used a similar prompting process for the coloring book pages and the partially colored cover image. And the book is on Amazon right now!
